I've had some extra free time lately. I got laid off. It's a tricky
thing trying to find new work when you are bummed about losing your
job. So today I distracted myself with a few home projects and then
went for an epic wandering walk.
My roommate Kevin. I've lived with him for like 16 months now. He's a roofer. He likes the patriots, beer, pool, and the Red Socks.
I cleaned out the bookshelf. I plan to visit the used bookstore.
This is the telephone utility building. Still used by verizon. They built things to last back then.
A cheese crisis? Right?
My lunch. A gyro and fries. MMMMMMMMM...
This tavern has been closed since my very first visit to Providence. It has the best sign. The best.
I spent awhile at the WWII memorial. Looking at the sheer number of men and women who lost their lives. Over 3000 from Providence alone. I don't know what to say.
I stopped for a rest at India Point Park. It used to be part of the Highway and now it's a park. Sound familiar? This is much smaller than Waterfront park and no festivals. But lots of shirtless college guys going running.
The sun set on my walk home. This is the ruins of the old electric company. Beautiful building with no windows. A product of failed renovation. The money fell apart in the collapse of 08-09.
I keep discovering new places. This is a little tiny park in the middle of what used to be the part of town where all the jewelry manufactures were. Now it's empty store fronts and condos and a bunch of construction.
